There's nothing like an afternoon of golf in Edgartown to take you for a local and mingle with the gratin at Martha's Vineyard! The 18-hole course at the Vineyard Golf Club is beautiful and very famous. It is located 2 miles out of town. Beware, the club is very posh and there are many rules to be respected, especially in terms of clothing, to be admitted (for example, you must have a golf polo shirt with a collar). Among the notable figures who have trodden its green are Barack Obama, who played there in 2009 and 2010.

Although based in Oak Bluffs, this organization offers day kayaking trips from Edgartown to the northern tip of Chappaquiddick Island, including in winter. Sunset tours offer memorable sunset views.
