The largest church in the country located south of the market, flanked by a single tower in Gouda
To the south of the market stands the remarkable 13th-century church of St. John. Shaped like a cross and 123 meters wide, it is the largest church in the country. Flanked by a single tower (the unstable ground on which it was built forced the architects to reduce the weight of the buildings), the church is famous for its splendid stained glass windows. A priceless treasure that even the Protestant iconoclasts did not dare to destroy, they evoke biblical scenes or the uprising of the United Provinces against the Spanish rule. Admire the stained glass windows

Eglise impressionnante ouverte au culte le dimanche. Les vitraux sont exceptionnels.
