The immense neo-Gothic basilica looms large on the horizon, its two 60-metre spires reaching for the sky. A pilgrimage site dedicated to praying for the dead, founded between 1896 and 1911 by Abbé Buguet, the village parish priest - affected by the death of three of his relatives - the sanctuary welcomes 50,000 faithful who, each year, make their way from the parish church to the basilica’s holy door. The beautiful hermitage next door houses the bookshop and a chapel.
