Villingen's fortifications are part of the city's remarkable heritage. Well-preserved and with several towers at regular intervals, they surround the old town on more than half of its boundaries. For example, you can linger at the foot of the 14th-century Kaiserturm, the Gerberturm, which was used for defensive purposes, or the Bickentor, which is a century older, but to which the baroque St. Ursula cloister chapel is attached.
