Paso de Patria is located 20 km south of Humaitá (count 45 minutes by bus with Del Sur or Ñeembucú). On the other side of the Paraná River is the Argentinian town of Paso de la Patria. A ferry runs between the two cities during the week. The rivers Paraguay and Paraná meet, without mixing, 7 km to the west, at the confluence, towards Ita Pirú ("narrow rock"), where there are the remains of an old fort. A popular place for fishermen. Paso de Patria was a strategic military camp during the Great War, and it was in its marshy surroundings that famous battles were fought. A museum recounts these tragic events and the guide Vicente García (✆ +595 982 518 915) will take you back in time.
