The mission was first established in 1637 on the banks of the Yacuí River in Brazil and later moved to its present location in 1660. It quickly became one of the most important, with a population of 4,400 Guarani Indians. Nowadays, there are few traces of it, but the discovery of Santa Ana is moving, and the visit is a change of scenery. Contrary to the ruins of San Ignacio Mini, those of Santa Ana remain totally surrounded by the jungle and its luxuriant vegetation. The atmosphere is magical, the trees have grown back on the stones, waiting for the restoration to continue. Part of the buildings have already been rebuilt.
