ABBAZIA DI POMPOSA

Founded in the 6th century, the Benedictine Abbey of Pomposa is one of the most beautiful in northern Italy. It had an exceptional influence from the 10th to the 12th century thanks to its library and its abbot Guido di Pomposa, who encouraged the invention of modern musical transcription. The pre-Romanesque church is preceded by a portico with three arches, decorated with multicoloured bricks, marble and majolica. It preserves a mosaic floor and a magnificent set of frescoes from the 14th century. Next to the church stands the 48 m high Romanesque bell tower, built in 1063.

RISERVA NATURALE BOSCO DELLA MESOLA

Natural site to discover

A few kilometres from Mesola, the Gran Bosco della Mesola nature reserve with its 1,058 hectares is a huge plain forest, covered with dunes and holm oaks. With good binoculars you can observe deer, fallow deer and many wild birds. From the end of March to the beginning of November, excursions are organized by electric bus (maximum 8 passengers - 12 €), through the part of the reserve closed to visitors, with the possibility of meeting the deer of the Mesola.
