Store and museum on the history and production of Camembert, with maturing cellar and cheese bar

A beautiful 18th-century half-timbered building on a high plateau reveals the behind-the-scenes secrets of Camembert. Since its invention by Marie Harel in 1791, the recipe has remained unchanged: 2 liters of milk for one Camembert. Videos, advertising posters and a reconstructed maturing cellar give you an insight into the making of this famous French cheese. Admission includes a tasting! In addition to a cheese bar, the store sells local products (cider, confectionery, etc.), by-products and snacks.

Musée très sympa, rien à redire là-dessus. J'enlève une étoile car dans la visite du musée normalement il y a une dégustation : la personne à l'accueil du musée ne nous en parle pas du tout. Il faut se rendre dans la boutique en face pour pouvoir en bénéficier mais personne ne nous dit que ça se passe là-bas. Du coup je demande à la boutique : "normalement il devait pas y avoir une dégustation ?" on me dit que oui du coup c'est bien le cas mais à savoir qu'on a droit à 3 parts alors que sur le site c'est noté 4. C'est du détail mais quand c'est la première fois qu'on vient on devrait être mieux dirigés

There's also a museum and you can view the camembert cheese being made by hand at the factory too. Very interesting, shame we can't bring any back to England at the moment ????
