THE KARAMAT TOUR
Go there and contact
Here, there was a community of 7 000 Métis, who were displaced in 1968 when the area was classified as "white." The Karamat Tour includes the visit of the Heritage Museum where the objects belonging to this Muslim community have been exhibited here since the first time of the colony. The tour continued with the visit of the Norul Islam mosque before arriving at the karamats (mausoleums) of an imam and son, descendants of the royal family of Dea Malela in Indonesia, who were exiled to Cape Town by the VOC in 1786.
