Located at the confluence of two rivers - the Nam Ou and the Nam Phak - Muang Khua is a peaceful town of about 20,000 souls. In the past, it was an important commercial crossroads in the direction of nearby Tonkin (Vietnam - Dien Bien Phu region). Today, the little town seems to be asleep, but it has not lost its charm. It is frequented by the Akha, the predominant ethnic minority in the district. The nearest villages are located at approximately. To discover them, you must be accompanied by a local guide. Curiosity not to be missed: the old suspension bridge over the Nam Phak, still in use today.
