A Benedictine abbey founded in the 11th century. One of the oldest beers in Germany is brewed here.
Since 1050, the monks have been brewing beer at this Benedictine abbey, which can be enjoyed in the superb Klosterschenke beer garden. The view is exceptional and the beer a real treat! In fact, it's one of the oldest monastery breweries in the world. The building also includes the Klosterkirche Weltenburg, the rococo cloister church decorated by Egid Quirin and Cosmas Damian Asam, two brothers who were masters of religious monument decoration. The monastery can be reached by boat from Kelheim.
