This chapel built in 1102 by Gaston IV the Cross, Viscount de Béarn, is situated on the paths of Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle which passes through the Moines Pass in the valley of Ossau. During his construction in the th century, she was placed in the Dépendance Sainte-Christine de Somport hospital. In the texts, we know that in 1147 the Hospice hospice paid an annual fee to Somport hospital of eight sheep and four sheep to keep their grazing rights and freedoms. The chapel is the only remnant of this complex called the hospital of Mercy, held by the canons of Saint Augustine from the Aspe valley.
