Espaço Porto Cruz - Porto wine, an experience to be savored
The Espaço Porto Cruz, located in Vila Nova de Gaia opposite the Douro and Ribeira de Porto, is a must for all travelers wishing to immerse themselves in the world of Porto wine. More than just a place to visit, it's a true wine tourism experience that combines tasting, gastronomy and culture.
Here, every stage in the discovery of wine is highlighted: interactive exhibitions, immersive videos, educational workshops and commented tastings help visitors understand the history and richness of this Portuguese nectar. Lovers and the curious alike will find an approach that is both playful and refined.
The experience continues at table with the DeCastro Gaia restaurant, which offers subtle food and wine pairings, marrying contemporary Portuguese cuisine with the different expressions of Port wine. And to round off the day, the rooftop bar offers spectacular views of the river and historic center, ideal for enjoying a cocktail at sunset.

PORTO CRUZ BLANC
A traditional Douro wine made from white grape varieties, using the Port winemaking method, in which the fermentation of the must is interrupted by the addition of wine brandy. At the end, a blend is made between different young wines, with different stages.
Characteristics :
- Alcohol: 19% vol
- Residual sugar: 140 g/l
- Color: Intense yellow
- Aroma: Intense, sweet citrus, with some floral notes.
- Taste: Refined on the palate, it is silky and enveloping with an elegant profile and fresh acidity. The finish is dry and lively.
- At the table: Ideal for drinking chilled as an aperitif, or as a long drink with tonic water and ice. It should be served chilled, between 8 and 10ºC.
RÉCOLTE GRAN CRUZ 1998
Wine from the 1998 harvest, made from traditional Douro red grape varieties, using the Port winemaking method, in which must fermentation is interrupted by the addition of wine brandy. This wine is stored in wood until ordered for sale, for at least 7 years.
Characteristics :
- Color: Deep amber with golden highlights.
- Aroma: Dried and candied fruits.
- Taste: Balanced and complex. Notes of dried fruit intensify and persist after tasting.
- At the table: A perfect accompaniment to egg and nut desserts.
PORTO CRUZ ROSE
A traditional Douro wine made from red grape varieties, using the Port winemaking method, in which the fermentation of the must is interrupted by the addition of brandy. At the end, a blend is made between different young wines, with different stages.
Characteristics :
- Alcohol: 19% vol.
- Residual sugar: 130 g/l
- Color: Light pink, due to short contact between must and skins.
- Aroma: Exuberant raspberry and strawberry, with a floral touch.
- Taste: With a fruity freshness reminiscent of cherry, honey and grapefruit.
- The table: It can be drunk with orange zest or mint leaves. It's also an excellent base for cocktails. It should be served between 8 and 10ºC.
GRAND CROSS MILLÉSIME 1999
Made from traditional Douro red grape varieties, using the Port winemaking method. Made from grapes from a single harvest of exceptional quality, it ages for two years in large-volume vats, then ages in bottle.
Characteristics :
- Alcohol: 20% vol.
- Residual sugar: 100 g/l
- Color: Dark and intense.
- Aroma: Deep, already revealing gentle evolutionary tones of wild fruit jam and fig.
- Flavor: Balanced and elegant on the palate, with a surprisingly persistent aroma after tasting.
- At the table: Serve with chocolate desserts, milder cheeses or spicy dishes. It should be decanted before serving.
