Its programming is varied and of high quality, with an emphasis on recent art house films from around the world. Programming is less commercial than in other theatres in the city, with a little older and perhaps more knowledgeable audience. The nearby Glacis parking garage avoids parking problems.

Most of the works shown come from the archives at the Cloche d'Or. The cinémathèque also organizes or participates in numerous events throughout the year. These include free open-air film screenings at several locations in Luxembourg's capital during the summer.
