A small town or a large village, about ten kilometers further north. The cliffs covered with pine trees protect the bay from the wind, which favours swimming on the two local beaches, Playa Chica and Playa Grande (the latter is further north, at the Parque Municipal). For the historical anecdote, you should know that on November 26, 1865, the Esmeralda, a Chilean warship commanded by Captain Rebolledo (on board, the famous officers Prat, Condell, Latore and Uribe, who today make up the urban landscape of Chilean cities - having given their names to many streets), captured the Spanish gunboat Covadonga in the roadstead.
