Getting to Antanambe is a feat in itself: from the south (from Tamatave), because the road is long with all the ferries; from the north (from Mananara), because the track is completely broken (a legend for any self-respecting adventurer). Antanambe is also the gateway to Mananara Nord National Park. The RN 5 between Antanambe and Mananara is terrible! Allow at least 4 hours to cover the 42 km of track. Some hikers stop at Sahasoa (15 km, superb creek). Here, you can sleep in the lodge near the MNP offices. Then 37 km: ask around for a bush cab. It's quite an adventure!
