The park is 275 km from Tuléar. Covering an area of 43,200 ha, this biologically important site (particularly for aquatic birds) is located in the driest region of Madagascar. Among the 112 bird species, some are endemic, such as the Madagascar gravelot; others, like the peregrine, are endangered. But the main attractions are the colonies of pink flamingos (April to November), lesser flamingos and grebes, which congregate on this lake saturated with lime sulfate (the only one on the island) during the dry season. Endemicity is estimated at 90%. In the Demitoho cave, you might even meet the blind fish (fiatsiamaso)!
