Located between Maun and Gweta on either side of the road axis, this park, originally divided into two (Makgadikgadi areas National Park on the one hand, Nxai Pan National Park on the other), has collected, since 1993, the south, the Makgadikgadi parts, the south-western part of Ntwetwe Pan and the grassy expanses to the River Boteti, to the north, the clayey depression of Nxai (remnant of one of the last water planes left by the lake when drying). Covering a total surface area of 7 500 km ², it presents a wide variety of arid landscapes (mixtures of salés salés and shrub plains) and surprisingly abundant fauna (giraffes, elephants, zebras, otocyons, lions…). They admire, among other things, species of arid regions, which are found only exceptionally in Moremi or Chobe, leading desquelles, springbok and the brown hyena.
