It is at this place that the very first settlement of the island was created in 1719 with the arrival of two Norman sailors whose ship had run aground in the area. Well sheltered in a deep bay, this place was named Havre Saint-Pierre and prospered thanks to fishing until the deportation of the Acadians in 1755. Nowadays, people come here for its wild beaches protected in Greenwich by the extension of the Prince Edward Island National Park, or for its superb Links at Crowbush Cove golf club on the Morell side, considered one of the best courses in the country. For accommodations, there are several options in St. Peters Bay.
