Originally a spur point on the route of the Canadian Pacific Railway, then the terminus of the steamboat on the Columbia River, the historic town of Golden is now known for its location within an hour and a half drive of five major national parks, the closest of which is Yoho National Park. Because of this proximity, sports and adventure agencies, which are not allowed to operate in the parks, have invested in Golden. Thus, you will be able to practice in the region a multitude of adventure sports such as heli-skiing, rafting... The Ktunaxa, an indigenous people, used to live in the area, mainly from hunting and fishing.
