A former fishing estate dating back to the late 19th century, the Matamajaw Fishing Heritage Site is one of a kind. It includes several heritage buildings, such as the janitor's house, the snow house, the canoe shed and the main pavilion. There's also a pond where you can observe Atlantic salmon, the king of local rivers. On-site: new auditory immersive exhibit, souvenir store and bistro.

Founded in 1873 by businessman George Stephen, The Forks estate, today Le Site patrimonial de pêche Matamajaw, allowed him to receive prestigious guests and practice salmon sport fishing. By 1908, the Matamajaw Salmon Club became one of the most famous private salmon fishing camps in the province. Bordering the Matapédia and Causapscal rivers, the luxurious establishment welcomed members and guests of the club until its purchase by the Quebec government in the 1970s. The Site patrimonial de pêche Matamajaw became, in 1984, a cultural heritage property classified by the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec and is today an approved museum institution.
