Located about 30 minutes east of the southern end of Toledo Bend Reservoir, this city is the seat of Vernon Parish. It is home to the US Army Fort Polk Barracks, the Fort Polk Military History Museum and the Museum of West Louisiana, a local history museum in the old train station. Note that one of the areas of the Kisatchie National Forest and Wolf Rock Cave are located not far from Fort Polk South. If you're in the area the first weekend in May, don't miss MayFest, which features two days of music, food and arts and crafts, all for free.
