Mucugê, another town on the diamond circuit, was above all a town of breeders, farmers and traders. In the heyday of the precious ore, the town was the larder of the entire Chapada and the most prosperous city in the region. You can still see it today: beautiful cobbled streets lined with large houses with proud facades, clean and well-kept squares, people still live well in Mucugê. Like its brightly-colored houses, the town is rich in color. Don't miss the surprisingly original Byzantine-style cemetery (on the outskirts of town), which is well worth a visit.
