In Arembepe, around 1970, the hippie heyday attracted many artists. Today, the Casa de Sol where Janis Joplin slept no longer exists, and the atmosphere has changed. The rastas have replaced the hippies but the change of scenery is still guaranteed. The Rio Capivara, which runs along the sea, forms a peninsula beaten by the winds, the white sand dunes are covered with about fifty huts scattered among coconut trees. You can take a bus from Salvador and spend the day there. The sea is rough and you have to be careful with the rocks. The Tamar project includes a turtle observation base. You can observe the chelonians in their natural environment.
