With a little more than 80,000 inhabitants, the capital of the eponymous province is not a tourist town. There are no major sites to report, but the city can be a useful stopover to reach the cayos Coco and Guillermo. However, we recommend a stopover in Morón, which is closer and more pleasant, as a stopover on the central road connecting the country from west to east, and as a base camp to spend the day on the cayos Guillermo and Coco. Ciego de Ávila has the Parque Martí (named in 1925 but built in 1877) as its center and the Casa de La Trova, the Patio Artex and the Teatro Principal as its main entertainment venues.
