Aberfoyle is at the crossroads of several National Park routes and is the birthplace of fairy tales, as it is the town of Reverend Kirk, author of the first treatise on fairy tales. Some very good B&Bs ensure a successful stay and the excellent Forth Inn promises traditional meals and evenings. There are attractive walking opportunities along the Rob Roy Way and in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, to Glen Finglas, Loch Ard and Loch Katrine. There are two outdoor activity centers: Go Ape or Go Country. Aberfoyle is 45 minutes from Stirling on the First C11 bus line(www.travelinescotland.com).
