About 60 minutes by car from Shimokita (Mutsu) station is Yagen Onsen. The springs are located along the Ohata River, from which it is possible to hike 4.4 km to Oku-Yagen. Here you can enjoy the hot spring baths in the open air. The Kappa no Yu spring, which is free of charge, offers an authentic experience in emerald green water. Kappa no Yu is closed in winter and has only one bath, so you should pay attention to the hours reserved for women and men. The municipal bath Fufu Kappa no Yu is not closed in winter. The men's and women's baths are separated.
