This volcano, which rises to 2,038 m, is a well-known destination for climbers of all kinds. It is the highest summit of the prefecture. There are several ways to climb it, all of which will take you between 8 and 9 hours to get up and down. However, before any excursion, check with the tourist information center of Morioka where they will give you all the necessary information. This is not a hike to be taken lightly. If you want to enjoy Mount Iwate without too much effort, one of the best places to see it is from the Kaiunbashi Bridge in Morioka.
