Bronze statue, 4.50 m high, dating from the century, probably representing Theodosius II or Valentinian .
The Colossus of Barletta is a bronze statue of 4.50 m high dating from thefifth century, and representing a Roman emperor, probably Theodosius II or Valentinian I (and not Heraclius as tradition holds). The colossal statue would have been transported from Ravenna to Puglia in the 13th century during the reign of Emperor Frederick II. Installed next to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, along one of the main roads of Barletta, the colossus has become the emblem of the city.
