4.5 km long and 20 m high, the ramparts encircling the old town are the beauty of Kotor. Of Byzantine origin, these fortifications helped protect the city from Turkish assaults in the 16th and 17th centuries. The fortress of St. John, which dominates the town at an altitude of 260 m, was abandoned in 1918. Now in ruins, it can be reached by climbing 1,390 steps up to the church of Sainte-Marie. The view from the top of these fortifications is splendid!

Belle vue mais aucun entretien et sale !
Quel dommage de ne.pas entretenir un tel site malgré les 8 euros de ticket d'entrée ! Le sentier est très sale avec beaucoup de sacs poubelles ouverts et bouteilles par terre..Les remparts ne sont absolument pas entretenus et la horde de touristes gâche un peu la marche .. Prévoir d'y aller très tôt pour éviter chaleur et touristes.

montée facile et belle vue au sommet
la visite de la forteresse est à faire si on est à Kotor; la vue au sommet est magnifique et permet d'oublier l'effort nécessaire pour y arriver!

environ 8€ l'entrée par adulte, enfant gratuit. Prenez des bonnes chaussures et de l'eau car vous voilà partis pour une montée de 1530 marches. Environ 45 min de montée. Je ne suis absolument pas sportive mais je l'ai fait, j'ai même croisé des enfants de 3/4 ans. Au bout: une vue magnifique sur la baie et la satisfaction de l'exploit. A mi chemin une petite église. Il y a aussi quelques vendeurs d'eau mais rien d'officiel. N'y allez pas pour la forteresse en elle même, c'est une ruine.
