MUSÉE SÄRESTÖNIEMI
Nestled on the banks of the Ounasjoki River, in the remote village of Kaukonen, the Särestöniemi Farm Museum is more than just an exhibition space: it's the setting in which the renowned Finnish painter Reidar Särestöniemi (1925-1981) fashioned his colorful universe, inspired by Arctic nature. The museum houses almost 500 works - oils, watercolors, drawings, prints - reflecting the flamboyant palette of this alchemist of color. The family farmhouse has been restored to its original state, just as it was in Reidar's day. Allow 1h30 to 2h to soak up the atmosphere.
