Petit Futé's opinion on THE STRENGTHS

The five forts of Port-Cros still bear witness to its tumultuous military past. With the exception of the fort of Port-Man, located away in the eponymous bay, all are installed along the transverse line of the island, and are linked by the only paved road of Port-Cros. The road to the forts, which starts in the village and ends at the Fort de la Vigie, was built in the 19th century to transport the stones used in the construction of the forts of La Vigie and Eminence. Note: the fort of Estissac is the only one open to the public.

Fort de l'Estissac is the only one open to visitors: open from early July to late August from 10:30 am to 1 pm. Free of charge. Commented visit possible.
