With its sober and industrial decor, Officine is far from being a pharmacy, even if the drinks can sometimes soothe the aches! This contemporary bar welcomes an urban, young and trendy clientele. People come here to taste the local draught beers and especially those made by the house (Officine spéciale or Officine blanche). The Flon district is very lively and the bar's terrace is packed in summer. The mixed boards, the mini-burgers and the wraps accompany your aperitif break with good quality gourmet products.

Dancing La Javanaiseagainst a backdrop of musical notes and the footsteps of Serge Gainsbourg. A warm, quirky atmosphere and an excellent welcome. This café-bar-restaurant is decorated like a 1950s duplex; eclectic and ultra-original, like its menu. It's easy to spend hours sitting in the library with a good book, enjoying dishes that evoke the songs of Serge Gainsbourg, who is omnipresent at Java. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can sip cocktails on the sofas. An atmosphere that electrifies in the evening, recommended!

At the end of a paved alleyway, the Parrot is a very pretty bar with a Latin atmosphere. We feel good there, with a pleasant background music with Spanish sounds, very good cocktails (special mention to pisco sour, faithful to the original and to be tested for those who did not have the chance to discover it in Peru). To accompany all this, various tapas are possible: empanadas, patatas bravas and many other cheese or delicatessen boards. The waiters are on their own, everything is in place to make you have a wonderful evening.

Initially intended to offer various activities to students and young researchers at the EPFL (Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne), the Satellite association, created in 1984, organises shows in its bar open to all: jazz and rock concerts, café-theatres, jam sessions, slams, fun evenings... On Friday evenings, there are few people who, before going out on the town, don't come and drink a beer in this friendly atmosphere where the price is unbeatable for the town, comfortably seated in stoned sofas.

Le Pointu is a trendy bar with a beautifully wooded decor. Open almost any time of the day, you can go there for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We also recommend that you try the delicious Sunday brunch. But we especially like to have a good drink with friends. A real bar for regulars, the good atmosphere is communicative and we will soon find ourselves talking with everyone. The reception of the servers is very pleasant and always with a smile. We fell in love with this old pint dating from 1895, saved by two journalists and a dietician from Fribourg. These three former travelling companions and long-time friends have completely restored it with taste: the linoleum has given way to a beautiful parquet floor, the neon lights have been replaced by warmer hanging lamps. Nice for a glass of homemade beer in the evening or for a four-hour meal (with lemonade, toast and sweets), in a welcoming setting and with attentive service. Terrace in a very quiet street, very pleasant in summer.

Small art cinema managed by an association that offers a varied programming of short and feature films, fiction and documentaries. Every summer, Zinéma organizes open-air screenings in the Mon-Repos park, 10 Toiles sous les Étoiles, and free of charge! We also love this address for the brunch offered on Sundays from 10am to 2pm, which allows you to travel around the world and surf on new culinary trends thanks to the know-how of the guest restaurateurs. A must for many occasions!

La Datcha is a cultural café, a very urban agora to exchange on artistic currents. In short, a place where artists mingle with the public and vice versa. Under the rooftops in the Flon district, in the heart of the city but also on the edge of the forest, the atmosphere is never the same. Conferences, concerts and exhibitions follow one another to give rhythm to your evenings and above all to enrich them, in this raw place, with its refined decoration but with a warm atmosphere. A proximity with artists from all over the world which augurs well for beautiful encounters.

In the hushed, comfortable setting of a former cinema, Le Bourg offers an eclectic program: concerts of French chanson, electronic music, jazz, film screenings, readings, comedy, dance... The Bourgllywood (hilarious improvised dubbing) and Avracavabrac (improv) evenings are a must-see. Book in advance to be sure of a place. In summer, the café-théâtre takes its deckchairs, chairs and garden benches and moves under the west arch of the Pont Bessières to become Les Grandes Roches.

An unusual place for a nice cold beer under a bridge. It's the Grandes Roches terrace. Open all summer long, this ephemeral guinguette-style terrace bar, located under the west arch of the Bessières bridge, is a resounding success. A few palm trees, garlands of multicolored light bulbs, a pool table, a table soccer table, eclectic garden furniture and the new relaxed setting is set. We'd have stayed until the end of the night, but on Fridays and Saturdays, an aftershow is offered at the café-théâtre, a few meters away.

One of Lausanne's favourite bars, for its six beers produced on site, in the microbrewery, as well as for its very good pizzas that you can enjoy until closing time. Built on two levels, the Brasserie du Château has a relatively quiet ground floor, while the first floor is always crowded and lively. If you want a table, you will first have to be patient with a beer at the bar: La Rousse is always a great success! A few concerts are organised from time to time.

A good English-speaking base to rediscover the atmosphere of pubs over a good beer and a burger in a public made up of students, trendy thirtysomethings, families or Englishmen like George, the boss of the establishment. During the day, it's a pleasant place to work on a computer, soak up the sun on the terrace in fine weather, or start the evening with a cocktail at the afterworks from 6pm. From Thursday to Saturday evenings, from 10pm onwards, the atmosphere heats up during the evening thanks to the good care of the DJ.

The Darling is a night pub that doubles as a club. Set in a prime location on the second floor of the Galerie Saint-François, the revamped interior still revolves around the central bar and its beer pumps. Regular customers won't be too disoriented: the screens are still there to follow the sports in the early evening, and the dance floor means that aperitifs can go on until the end of the night. The walls are decorated by different painters or by kisses in the entrance, roses here, graphic themes there..
