As an integral part of the Quasar complex, which includes an art library, the Thomas Henry Museum and the Paul Éluard Room, the Jacques Prévert Media Library is a major cultural venue in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. 240,000 documents can be consulted or borrowed, including novels, comic books, children's books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, instruments, vinyl and sheet music. The place also offers a great musical program.

Located in the Reception Nave of La Cité de la Mer, near the Archimedes bathyscaphe, this media library-museum is a realm for underwater enthusiasts. Teachers can organise visits with schoolchildren, researchers and students can find resources for their studies, and visitors can learn more about the underwater world. Tens of thousands of books in French and English, press articles, and DVDs are available.
