On the road between Bukhara and Gijduvan, about 35 km from the ancient Samanid capital, do not miss to stop in this small village to admire its very photogenic minaret. With its 39 meters height and its very slender silhouette, it is characteristic of the Karakhanide architecture. It is this slimness that makes it appear much higher than it really is. This is an optical illusion, since it is 4 m shorter than the Kalon minaret in Bukhara. It is possible to climb it: at the top of the spiral staircase, you will be rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the Kyzyl Kum desert.
