Located near the geographical center of the country, Dabola is a pretty prefecture at the foot of granite cliffs and can be a stopover on the road to Kankan. A former colonial town, traces of it still remain in the buildings around the old railway station. The town was famous for its production of peanut oil, which was grown in the area. Unfortunately, even today, the oil mill only operates intermittently. And the rice fields are gradually replacing those of peanuts while waiting for a real revival of the activity.
