This old city of 40,000 inhabitants has been occupied since prehistoric times. It is also one of the great centers of power of the Piasts, a millennium ago. Since then, it has known a Golden Age and an exceptional development during the Renaissance thanks to its fortress and whose wealth at the time is still visible in its architecture, before falling asleep. It is now reviving thanks to the glass industry, which has been flourishing since the 19th century, and its eponymous brand is known worldwide.
