The historic center is centered around a vast Rynek, dominated by a handsome town hall which today houses a small museum. It was rebuilt in the 16th century, in a Polish-Italian Renaissance style, on a 12th-century Gothic base. On its southwest facade, you can still see the pręt chełminski, 4.35 m long, the town's unit of measurement in the Middle Ages. The parish church of the Assumption(Kościół Farny) is the town's most important and houses the relics of St. Valentine, patron saint of lovers. It's quite possible to explore the medieval ramparts that surround the town via the Grudziądzka gate.
