At the center of the peninsula, Jastarnia is a small town (formerly a fishing village left to its own devices for centuries), where Kashubian culture is still very much alive. Its opening to tourism, with the installation of hotels and spas, has somewhat spoiled its authenticity. In summer, the town undergoes a metamorphosis, with holidaymakers completely invading its narrow streets. Jastarnia is especially popular for its location close to the beaches, opening onto the Great Sea (cooler, the Baltic) and the Little Sea (warmer, the Bay of Puck - Zatoka Pucka). Jastarnia remains a beautiful destination on the road, for a swim or a meal.
