At the tip of the peninsula, Hel is the oldest town in the Puck region (dating back to 1260), a pretty little town with typical Baltic architecture. It's almost entirely confined to a single street: ulica Wiejska, on which the oldest houses also stand. At the far end of town is the lighthouse that guides the ships, while the port is located on the bay side, directly below Wiejska Street. If you're looking for a swim, you're better off on the Grande Mer side (north) than on the bay side (south), which houses the industrial port. Beware: in summer, the peninsula is swamped.
