Svetlogorsk is one of the only cities in the region that was not damaged during World war II 35 km from Kaliningrad. Formerly known as Rauschen, this pleasant town on the Baltic coast, the peaceful alleys lined with trees and small wooden houses, is the German sculptor Hermann Brachert. Many of his works adorn the streets of Svetlogorsk. The sculptor left the city to the arrival of the Nazis, so as not to compromise with Hitler's regime. The house of Brachert has now become a museum.Svetlogorsk also deserves a detour for its white sandy beaches (mostly western side of the city) and its coastline of cliffs. It is also a place for amber researchers. To reach the beach, there is a funicular that leaves from Station No. II.
