A few kilometres from the capital and relatively easy to access, this 23 580 ha national park is an excursion not to be missed. Reserve since 1952 and park since 1980, it has an vegetation of the type "cloud forest", even though it has been cruelly decimated by minors, wood traffickers and peasants. Bromélias, ferns, orchids abound; there are no fewer than 200 bird species, including the famous quetzal. However, there is little chance that you will care for many animals, apart from guatuza, a sort of local hare. Some were able to see the quetzal, and others were surprised to cross two pumas! As well, don't be surprised to take part in enduros (motocross) in the park…
