This small town is located between Kristiansand and Stavanger, on the "green coast", so called because of the small fields that dot it. The port is also famous for its old Dutch quarter dating from the 16th century, a reminder of the flourishing trade with Holland which, at the time, needed timber to build its dykes and ports. The economic boom in Flekkefjord declined at the same time as the end of the tall ships. It is quite pleasant to walk through the streets of this small harbour town, which is often very sunny, with houses decorated with flowers in full bloom and just waiting to be admired!
