Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock, is one of the major natural attractions in the Stavanger region. This gigantic, vertiginous rock, carved by erosion, towers like a church pulpit over the green waters of Lysefjord, 604 metres below. There are two ways to view this marvel. The first is from the summit, which takes around 4 hours round trip on foot. Hiking boots, rain gear and warm clothing are recommended. The weather can change quickly and conditions can become complicated. The other option is to discover it from the Lysefjord on a cruise.
