Statue built in 1832 of an Avranchinois general, Roger-Valhubert, who was wounded and did not survive the battle of Austerlitz.
A general from Avranches who died at Austerlitz, his statue was erected on the Place de Paris on July 16, 1832. Louis XVIII donated it to the town of Avranches, the birthplace of this great general. After a long career, he was wounded at the battle of Austerlitz, and did not survive. For the record, his name is one of those engraved on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, alongside other illustrious figures. Situated in the heart of the city, a landmark for many of its inhabitants, it and its base are listed as Monuments Historiques.
