Neo-Gothic church which dominates the city and can be seen from several dozen kilometres away in Avranches.
It dominates the town and, from the promontory at the base of Avranches, can be seen from dozens of kilometers away, including from Mont-Saint-Michel. This vast neo-Gothic edifice has been embellished by imaginative sculptors with fantastic gargoyles, animals and picturesque characters. World War II bombings damaged the church, which was closed for 18 years for renovations, before reopening in 1962.
