A rococo style church classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.

The Pilgrimage Church of the Flogged Saviour in Wies, situated in a picturesque green setting at the foot of the Alps, is one of the most beautiful in the Bavarian Rococo style. It was added to the Unesco World Heritage List in 1983. Built between 1745 and 1754 under the direction of the architect and stucco artist Dominikus Zimmermann, one of the best artists of his time, it captivates by its shape, by the sublime lightness of its sumptuous stucco decoration and its monumental ceiling fresco, and by its incredible luminosity.

C'est la plus belle église que nous ayons visité pendant notre séjour en Bavière. Les peintures sont à couper le souffle. Elle vaut bien le détour que nous avons fait pour y aller.
