A history museum dedicated to the city and the region of Upper Franconia.

The highlights of the cultural and artistic life of the city and of Upper Franconia ("Oberfranken", the administrative sub-region to which Bamberg belongs) are presented in this history museum located within the walls of the Alte Hofhaltung, the former bishop's residence next to the cathedral. The northwestern part of the museum is devoted to a permanent exhibition on bourgeois culture in the 19th century in Bamberg. Frequent temporary exhibitions.
