Former town hall transformed between 1744 and 1756 in the Baroque and Rococo style of the period, with trompe-l'oeil frescoes.
The old town hall is probably the most iconic building in Bamberg. And rightly so, for a building on a bridge pillar is quite a curiosity. According to legend, the bishop of Bamberg refused to grant a place for a town hall. For this reason, the citizens created an artificial island in the river for the building. In 1440, a fire destroyed the building, which was then rebuilt by the citizens of the city. Between 1744 and 1756, Michael Küchel rebuilt the building in the baroque and rococo styles of the time, with trompe l'oeil frescoes.

De merveilleuses fresques en trompe-l'huile remplissent les deux côtés de ce bâtiment sur la rivière Regnitz. Un détail mentionné dans la planète solitaire est important de mentionner. Sur l'un des deux côtés, en partie basse vers la rivière, un putto est conçu de telle manière qu'une des deux pattes s'enfonce... mais continue en format "réel" avec une patte 3D en je sais quelle matière qui s'étend sur la rivière avec une feuille tenue par les mains tirées du putto. Intéressant.

La façade est vraiment très jolie et du pont on a une belle vue sur les maisons pittoresques situées sur la rive en contre-bas
