Central market in a beautiful colonial building with products from Santo Antão, souvenir stores upstairs
This beautiful colonial building is home to the Mercado Municipal, a lively place where it is good to walk around, to feel closer to the local population. From the first floor, you have an extraordinary view of the stalls run by women, like in most markets. You will be able to buy fruits and vegetables (useful if you have to cook), cheeses, without forgetting to bargain. Most of the products come from Santo Antão, as the soil is not suitable for agriculture. There are some souvenir shops upstairs to attract visitors.

Très joli marché dans un bâtiment de style colonial. Il faut monter pour voir du dessus. C'est très joli. Il y a aussi à l'étage une boutique où vous pouvez acheter des robes africaines mais aussi de quoi se restaurer. On y trouve de tout. Legumes, fruits, plantes aromatiques, rhum.....
